Pianist Şeniz Duru (1974) was born in Turkey. She studied piano from 1985 to 1996 with Secil Akdil, among others, at the Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatoire in Izmir, where she graduated with a master’s degree. She then took master classes with Zöhrab Adıgüzelzade, Martin Berkofsky and Edna Golandsky, among others. She obtained her DMA degree in 2001.
Şeniz played many solo recitals and participated in numerous concerts in England, Germany, Russia, Italy, Portugal and, of course, Turkey. She co-founded the Aegean Piano Trio, performing world premieres of compositions by several contemporary Turkish composers in addition to performing the well-known repertoire.
In 2012, she took courses in Historical Performance Practice and Harpsichord as a visiting scholar with Peter Seymour and Catherine Hollingworth at the Faculty of Music at the University of York. In 2014, she attended a summer symposium on the Taubman Approach held by the Golandsky Institute at Princeton University.
Şeniz was main subject teacher of piano and chamber music at the DEU State Conservatory in Izmir for over 20 years. For many years, she was also head of the piano department. From 2002 to 2013, Şeniz also served as deputy director of the DEU Institute of Fine Arts, and in 2015 and 2016 she was director of the DEU State Conservatoire. In 2018, Şeniz moved to the Netherlands and founded her own piano school in Eindhoven. She teaches piano at all levels, plays solo and chamber music concerts, accompanies vocal ensembles and choirs and is part of the Eindhoven ensemble Tango de Barrio. Şeniz is a member of EPTA Netherlands.

Şeniz speelde vele solorecitals en werkte mee aan talloze concerten in Engeland, Duitsland, Rusland, Italië, Portugal en natuurlijk Turkije. Ze was medeoprichter van het Aegean Piano Trio en verzorgde daarmee, naast het uitvoeren van het bekende repertoire, wereldpremières van composities van verschillende hedendaagse Turkse componisten.
In 2012 heeft zij als visiting scholar bij Peter Seymour en Catherine Hollingworth aan de faculteit Muziek van de University of York cursussen Historische Uitvoeringspraktijk en Klavecimbel gevolgd. In 2014 woonde zij een zomersymposium bij over de Taubman Approach, gehouden door het Golandsky Institute aan de Princeton University.
Şeniz was ruim twintig jaar als hoofdvakdocent piano en kamermuziek verbonden aan het DEU Staatsconservatorium in Izmir. Vele jaren was zij bovendien hoofd van de vakgroep piano. Van 2002 tot 2013 was Şeniz tevens als adjunct-directeur verbonden aan het Instituut voor Schone Kunsten van DEU en in 2015 en 2016 was zij directeur van het DEU Staatsconservatorium. In 2018 verhuisde Şeniz naar Nederland en richtte zij haar eigen pianoschool op in Eindhoven. Zij geeft pianoles op alle niveaus, speelt solo- en kamermuziekconcerten, begeleidt vocaal ensembles en koren. Şeniz is lid van EPTA Nederland.
